What about the roofing?
Most people don't think about the waterproofing issues until water leaks develop; however, the waterproofing can be one of the most important building systems applied. Especially when the building houses multiple research and educational labs that require 70+ mechanical penetrations serving existing fume hoods…
The project is currently underway to reroof the Duncan Hall Science Building in San Jose State University. This 30,000 square feet roof replacement project required detailed assessment of existing equipment and installation of new slope and roofing system to address water ponding issues. The project utilized time proven Built-Up Roofing system in addition to the new light weight concrete roof slope system. The project documents were generated to meet the competitive requirements of the California Public Contract Code. The completed roof assembly will meet the requirements of the Cool Roof Rating Council as well.
The project is expected to be finished at the end of the month.
